Children's Literature and Xmas Party!

Our next unit is about children's literature so please think of your favorite story or book when you were a child and tell us what it is in the comments. In the next class we will tell each other about them.
Also, we will have our xmas party! I'm bringing cake, a trivia game, music and a "joke present". You guys bring a wrapped joke present and anything else you'd like.
See you soon!

  1. One of my favorite books was "The Giving Tree", by Shel Silverstein. It is kind of a sad story and the drawings were really simple, but I can still remember almost every word.

  2. Matt, this topic is too difficult for me. I can't choose the best.
"I Love You So Much" was the picture book I read many times during my childhood. It tells us how difficult to say a simple words, but if you managed to say that, something magical happens around you eventually.
See you then! I'm looking forward for the weird gift haha

  3. Good evening.

"Jack and the Beanstalk" was my favorite. This book may be my first incentive to see the new world.

  4. Hello, Matt.

First of all, I was very sorry for being absent from last class.

"The Wayside school"series from Louis Sachar was my favorite novel when I was in elementary school. It is a story about a school where many wierd kids, teachers, or even hilarious monsters go or live there. I liked how Sachar put in little jokes everywhere in each chapter of the book.
I also like Roald Dahl's books too. All the chocolates, candys, and Umpa Lumpas in the movie(and book) "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" made me so fascinated as a child. Besides, I think it is indeed a great book to read in this Christmas season :)
Shel Silverstein's poems are very heartwarming too. "Hug-O-War" is one of my favorites of his poems! I remenber there was a charity project on "The Living Tree" at my elementary school in Chicago.

    See you later..

  5. Hello!!
Now I'm looking forward to our xmas party but still I can't decide my joke present... hmm.
I was really a bookworm when I was a child so I can't choose the best as Ayari says. Well, one of my favorite books was "The Little House", by Virginia Lee Burton, a very nice story. Her other stories are great, too!!
    See you tomorrow!!

  8. Hi, Matt!

    Sorry for my late comment...

I'm really happy now because I am now free from ELC report! Yay!
Well, in fact, I should have started doing it more earlier... #sigh#

By the way, I really loved to read "Disney's Hansel and Gretel" picture book when I was little. In this book, Hansel is Mickey and Gretel is Minnie. I always got hungry when I saw the picture of sweets house.XD

And I also liked reading "Forest's picture book." Actually, I didn't read it, but looked at it. This book has no words, and just beautiful detailed forest scenery is drawn in it. In the forest's trees and leaves, several animals are hiding as a trick art. I was so excited to find these animals with friends.

I'm really looking forward to have a party! Hooray!
    Good night!

  10. Hi Matt, this is Takuma
My beat is Momotarou, a peach boy. Do you know that?
In the story, a boy born from a big peach goes to beat Oni, orges with unique guys, a dog, a monkey and apheasant. They goes with momotarou by getting only one kibidanngo, a Japanese sweet! I wanted a pheasant too and envied momotarou very much 'cause he got it with just a kibidanngo...
the story is simple and fun to read. So I like it best. Looking forward to our party!

  12. Hi Matt,this is Satsuki!
I am really sorry,I have totally forgot to comment on your blog.I know it's too late and you wouldn't give me any points, but please read mine.

When I was living in the U.S.,I read many English books.I especially liked "Wayside School" series and "Amber Brown" series.I have read so many times that these books are now very old and partly torn!!
The former series is about 30 peculiar students and a teacher. The latter is about a girl whose name is like a kind of color.

Have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

  14. Hi Matt, again!(I hope you notice)

I'm sorry the comment i left before was horrible...i was in a hurry but it was kind of rude.

"Karasu no Panyasan" is a story about a family of crows. It's very funny and heartwarming.
I just found an English version of this book called "Mr.Crow's Bakery" on Amazon. I'm happy my favorite children's literature got translated in English.

I hope you enjoy your holiday in Thai!
    See you next year!
